Large Hand-Made Russian Nesting DollsOur collection of “Matroyshka Dolls” from Russia all have a multitude of colours and designs. It is hard to find similar anywhere due to their unique quality and craft. There are 10 dolls in total with the largest piece size of 25cm x 14cm, and the smallest doll less than 1cm! Our handcrafted dolls are based on famous Russian folklore themes. They are all beautifully hand-crafted in various colours and polished to finish. Each doll has a different detailed theme of a Russian fairy tale and are made from the wood of the lime tree. Traditional Russian Nesting Dolls“Matryoshka”,” Babooshka” or Nesting Dolls, are the most popular national Russian souvenirs. Matryoshka are a descendant of traditional peasant toys that parents used to make for their children. Nesting dolls have gained a wide popularity all over the world. Matryoshka has come to us from the world of legends and fairy tales. Actually, this wooden doll is "only" about hundred years old. There are many versions how and when they were started to be produced, but it is known for certain that its prototypes were brightly painted Easter eggs, which Russian craftsmen turned out on a lathe and painted since olden times.
