Miniature Russian Nesting DollsOur collection of “Matroyshka Dolls” from Russia are available in a multitude of colours and designs. It is hard to find a similar set anywhere due to its unique quality and craft. There are 10 dolls in total in this set with the largest piece size 6cm and the smallest doll the size of a poppy seed! Our handcrafted dolls are based on famous Russian folklore themes and are all beautifully hand-crafted in various colours. Traditional Russian Nesting Dolls“Matryoshka”,” Babooshka” or Nesting Dolls, are the most popular national Russian souvenirs. Matryoshka are a descendant of traditional peasant toys that parents used to make for their children. Nesting dolls have gained a wide popularity all over the world. Matryoshka has come to us from the world of legends and fairy tales. Actually, this wooden doll is "only" about hundred years old. There are many versions how and when they were started to be produced, but it is known for certain that its prototypes were brightly painted Easter eggs, which Russian craftsmen turned out on a lathe and painted since olden times.
